Pre-adoption Interview

Attachment/bonding is the biggest challenge and the greatest reward in adopting a child of any age. In Pre-adoptive sessions with the child, using play therapies, a therapist will make a diagnosis of the child's social and behavioral skills, as appropriate for their age, taking into account the child’s history.

When adopted, a child is thrust into unfamiliar situations. The child may have already been moved more than once in their young life or suffered neglect or abuse. Pre-adoptive sessions identify problem areas that could get in the way of healthy attachment between the adoptive parent(s) to assist their child with the adjustment.

Family may opt to continue working with a therapist once an adoption is underway.

Family Reunification

When a child, adolescent, or adult has been living outside of the home environment, their re-entry into the family can be a daunting prospect for all involved. Reunification therapy can greatly help the whole family during this time of change, whether the individual was separated from their family by CFS, court order, or other circumstance.

Our therapists are specially trained in techniques to facilitate bonding in these cases. They work with the family to establish a firm foundation that supports each person's full participation as they build new relationships between siblings and between children and parents. If your family is facing this issue, we are here to help.
