Other Mental Health Services for Contra Costa County Residents


Pet Assisted Therapy


Pet assisted therapy is provided as a technique to help build self-esteem, provide a bonding experience between a parent and child which will enhance their attachment with each other and provide support for individuals who have experienced trauma. Both dogs and birds are used as pet-assisted animals. 

Couple Counseling


When two people are in relationship, it is sometimes difficult to remember each has a unique way of looking at the world. Our therapists are trained to work with couples in finding common ground when it has been lost due to a minor or a major issue.

Event the best communicators may seek out counseling to resolve an issue that is building within their relationship. Or a change coming from outside of the union may be challenging them to find new insights. Outside influences in the realm of finances, physical health, and each person’s biological or extended family can have a profound influence on a relationship and will elicit varied reactions. 

Our therapists are trained in diversity issues, enabling them to work productively with lesbian, gay, and transgender couples, and with inter-racial and inter-cultural couples.

Group Therapy


Groups assist people in their mental healing for many reasons, main among them are:

  • Learning you are not alone
  • Being taken seriously
  • Being emotionally and morally supported in confronting an issue

Groups are a place to ask questions about issues that matter deeply and to explore answers openly and without fear. Leaders actively assist participants in reaching understanding and in healing, truly supporting them in their work. 

Group Therapy sessions are lead by an MFT Therapist Intern and may have up to 8 participants. Participants are interviewed by a therapist and placed in a group chosen to best serve their needs. 

Support Groups


Support Group sessions are focused on a specific topic are led by an MFT Therapist, an intern or a lay-person versed in the topic, and may have up to 10 participants. Both adolescent and adult groups are mixed-gender unless a topic is gender specific, such as with domestic violence issues.
