Since its beginnings in the days before and during World War II, when Contra Costa County was being transformed by the arrival of defense workers, soldiers and sailors from all over the country, the YWCA of Contra Costa/Sacramento has dedicated itself to meeting the needs of women and girls.
From its start in Richmond, the YWCA of Contra Costa has expanded into the communities of Antioch, Bay Point, Oakley, Concord, and Martinez. The addition of the YWCA of Contra Costa is the YWCA of Sacramento, the first YWCA in California, started in 1913, the YWCA of Sacramento offers affordable housing for women and a variety of services including rental of program facilities.
We welcome the participation of women, girls and families who speak all languages and we have staff readily available who speak Spanish, Farsi, French, and Mandarin. We appreciate and want to encourage the rich cultural diversity that makes this such a wonderful place to live and work.
Our programs are designed to help women and girls, families and communities achieve their goals and make their own place in the world.
