Providing families in Contra Costa County with childcare for children of different ages and needs.
The childcare programs of the YWCA Contra Costa / Sacramento are available in many locations, all staffed by licensed child care staff.
Our childcare programs help children develop physically, socially and emotionally. Children learn how to get along with others and develop communication skills. We have programs for children two to seven years old:
General childcare (age 2)
Preschool (ages 3 to 5)
School age (kindergarten through first grade)
We also give meals and snacks to all children in our childcare programs. All of our Childcare Programs are Government Subsidized with the exception of the Hidden Valley Elementary Private after-school program located in Martinez for Kindergarten and first grade.
It’s been said that play is a child’s job. It’s how children learn, explore and develop. At the YWCA of Contra Costa / Sacramento, our childcare programs encourage play as a way of developing a child’s social and language skills, their physical and mental abilities, and their creativity.
We offer several programs for children of different ages and needs, all delivered in licensed facilities by qualified teachers and staff. Because individual attention is important, there typically is one adult for every eight children in our preschool classes; one adult to every four children in our general childcare classes; and one adult for every 14 children in the school-age program. In total, we care for more than 300 children.
Hidden Valley offers care for school-aged children. Hidden Valley is private pay, so parents pay for their children to attend.
