Hidden Valley Childcare Info Update

September 10, 2021

Greetings! — from the YWCA Hidden Valley Center, located at 510 Glacier Drive in Martinez.

This is the only private school-age program in the YWCA Family in Contra Costa County. We have a full-day program that runs from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. The center is led by the Head Teacher / Site Supervisor, Lisa Miller, and Associate Teacher, Sharifa Asefi.

We WELCOME YOU BACK to our safe environment!

Remember to wear your mask!

In August, we got into the Olympic spirit and learned about the new sports in the Olympics, like skateboarding. Also, we talked about the metals and shared our favorite Olympic sport to watch with each other.

For September, we are focusing on “all about me, our family, our friends, our pets, and ourselves.” Our activities will include making family pictures, creating a family tree, and bringing in photos of our pets.

We are doing art projects with our hands and our feet and focusing on washing our hands every time we come inside or before we have snacks and lunch. We will also be working on homework with our friends.

In October, we will be talking about Fall and Fall holidays, the changing of the weather and brushing our teeth, washing our hands, brushing our hair, as the theme will be “personal hygiene.”

YWCA Contra Costa / Sacramento Richmond Childcare Center Site Supervisor

Hello! My name is Lisa Miller. I have been in the childcare field for over 30 years and a Site Supervisor / Head Teacher for the YWCA Contra Costa /

Sacramento for over 20 years.

I love working with children and getting to know the families. My goal for the Hidden Valley site is to provide a safe and caring environment for the children that are in my care.

I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews as well as my pets which include one cat and two birds. I love to travel and go to concerts and plays.

It’s great to be back and serving your children!

Make-A-Will Month (August) is a national awareness campaign that encourages individuals to create or update their wills and estate plans. The goal is to help people protect their loved ones, clarify their wishes, and consider the legacy they want to leave—including support for the causes and communities that matter most to them. For YWCA Local Associations, Make-A-Will Month is a powerful opportunity to connect planned giving with mission impact. It allows us to invite supporters to extend their commitment beyond their lifetime and ensure that YWCA’s work to eliminate racism, empower women, and advance justice continues for future generations.
